It’s November 5th and we have a new President. Yesterday night, Barack Obama, became America’s 1st black President. It’s groundbreaking and exciting . . .and just a bit frightening. And my reasoning has nothing to do with skin-color.
I didn’t particularly like either candidate. I’m not sure if Obama is experienced enough, but he has good people backing him and I adore Biden. I used to love McCain, but his negative campaign policy this election was disheartening and offensive. I also am terrified of Palin; her conservative/religious views are too extreme for my taste.
I voted Obama. Simply because I feel he’s the lesser of two evils (and I love Biden).
I am worried though. I expected a Democratic president. I however did not expect the Democratic party to control both the Senate and the House. And I am a strict believer in check and balances; impossible when one party has majority control.
I can’t tell you how Obama will run the country, but I hope he does it the right way. So I guess all we can do now is wait and see.
And just to be silly, my black friends keep mentioning how this country is now a “Black America” or it is a “Black Government”. So I thought this might be appropriate in that regards.
